2011 Easter Sunday special tour
to watch the "lamb on the spit" - Greek Easter custom

 

- Depart from Athens at 09.30 am and visit a suburb outside Athens where hundreds of lambs are roasted on the spits for the Athenians' traditional meal.
- Lunch in a local tavern tasting the roasted lamb, the traditional "kokoretsi" and salads.
- After lunch drive to the plane of Marathon where the famous battle between the Athenians and the Persians took place 2500 years ago, in 490 BC.
- Visit the starting point of the original "Athens classical Marathon race",
- Stop for a refreshment by the Marathon dam, Athen's water supply reservoir, a unique structure, since the external cladding is made of white Pentelikon marble, the same mable that was used for the construction of Parthenon at the Acropolis of Athens.
- Return to Athens centre at approximately 19.00 and drop off at your hotel

PRICE: 36.00 euros per person. The cost of the traditional meal is extra.

Easter Sunday is a public holiday.
Museums, sites and most of the shops are closed. No tours are organised.
